Meet the Midwife
As a native to South Bellingham, I feel elated to serve the community I grew up in! I strongly believe in meeting each woman where they are at and supporting them and their families through the beautiful process of birth.
I was born in the mid-80’s in California, the daughter of a family physician and nurse. My family relocated to Bellingham in 1990 and we have been here since. I was “number three” in the line up of six children and have fond memories of my mother’s pregnancies and taking care of my younger siblings.
After receiving my undergraduate degree from the University of Washington in 2008, I returned to Bellingham in hopes of going to nursing school. However, my oldest sister, who was planning a home birth at the time, encouraged me to explore midwifery. Doors opened and in 2009 I began my studies at the Seattle Midwifery School (SMS). In 2010, SMS merged with Bastyr University and I obtained my Masters in the Science of Midwifery from Bastyr University two years later. During my training, I attended approximately 140 births and had the honor of catching 55 of those babies. In the spring of 2013, I became licensed as a midwife and have been busily practicing ever since.
In February of 2015, I had the transformative experience of birthing my own son, Ulysses, at home in the water. In August of 2017, I had my daughter, Fiona, also at home. Experiencing midwifery care as a consumer, has only solidified my passion for natural, out of hospital birth. In my spare time, I enjoy going for walks with my family, playing co-ed soccer with my husband, Corbin and sharing meals with family and friends.
